Coaching

We try to arrange coaching sessions roughly every 6 weeks outside main holiday periods. General format of the sessions is a group warm-up; split into different groups for coaching; all get back together at the end for a punching relay (which the adults usually win!). Within each session, we plan individual coaching activities at all levels from white to green so can accommodate everybody.
We currently welcome juniors from East Lothian Orienteers, Roxburgh Reivers and Interlopers to join us in the coaching sessions.

Dates for junior training:

Please note that all Club Secretaries in the East of Scotland Orienteering Association will be sent details of ESOC junior training sessions to pass on to their junior members. Individual juniors who are already known to take part in ESOC junior training will also be contacted directly.
In order to comply with all relevant Child Protection legislation, complete details of junior training sessions will not be posted on this website.

Exercises and maps are prepared in advance for the coaching sessions so Ronnie Nolan needs to know a week in advance of each session if your child or children are coming.

Coaching sessions are free.

Wear

Any clothing that is comfortable and that you don’t mind getting wet and muddy; trainers with good grips; warm fleece or sweatshirt; waterproof jacket. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Bring

A compass and map bag if you have them (don’t worry if you don’t; we have a stash), a drink and a small snack. A change of clothes, shoes and socks might be useful for after the session, especially if the weather is bad.
