Comments from the Planner

Thanks to all who helped put out controls and take them in again.

The event went quite smoothly with no technical errors and most people
seemed to enjoy the courses though they would say that I suppose.

Theer were plenty of route choices on the legs with easy technical control
sites so it was all about route choice between legs. There were a wide
variety of different routes taken which is always pleasing from theh
planners point of view. Local knowledge is always a help in the Pentlands as
there are many sheep tracks and paths not marked on the map.

For those on the 10km course who thought 5 to 6 was a dogleg this was not
the optimum route but a tempter round the top. The optimum route was pretty
much straight line over the coll and down with much less climbing than the
route around the tops.

Sorry the weather did not hold up for the race and as many competitors
probably noticed…......the maps are water resistant rather than waterproof
so best to take a map case in these conditions.
