Figgate Park Results

Results from the Figgate Park event on Saturday.

It was Anna and Tom Ryan who first conceived the idea of orienteering in the Figgate Park, close to their home and Tom’s school.  Work by ESOC with the Portobello Schools over the last year increased the need for a map of this park.  And on a lovely sunny afternoon over a hundred people, ranging from a new-born baby to an eighty-year old, came to enjoy it.
Lots of people were trying the sport for the first time.  Several youngsters were encouraged by success on the easy courses to try another harder one.  The course for experienced orienteers visited some of the surrounding streets.  Several local people came to ask what was going on and were delighted to see all the activity in the park.  Some competitors came from quite a distance.
Many thanks to the Planner Roger Scrutton for his ingenious use of the area to provide something for everyone.
