It was a bit of a shock to look out the window on Wednesday to discover it was snowing. Thoughts on how to change the Light Green course to take account of the weather flashed thorugh my head. Fortunately, by lunchtime the weather had turned sunny.
There were tremendous views across the Forth from the high controls - I just hope the competitors had time to appreciate the same view. The times for the Light Green seem to indicate otherwise. It was very instructive watching them going to the first control. I expected most to go directly to the uphill tip of the gorse and swing into the control. However, everyone preferred the longer route on the track through the gorse.
There was tremendous enthusiasm on the White, Yellow and Orange courses. There were singles, pairs and groups whizzing round. And I lost track of those that did multiple courses. With the finish being downhill from the last control some came flying across the grass to the finish. Not all of them managed a controlled stop!
